Last Rainbow is a Punchy Pop Rock band from Nice, France, formed in 2023.
Alex and Kénan, both musicology students, and Raphaël, a geography student, met at university in Nice and wrote their first song together for a music-creation class. Very quickly, they decided to turn that experiment into a real band, and their first show was organised at Altherax in Nice. Most of the set was made up of covers at the time, but those early gigs helped the three members develop their chemistry and stage presence.
The name Last Rainbow carries a simple idea. In a world that sometimes feels like it is reaching the end of a cycle, the band would rather celebrate, dance together one last time and imagine what could be built afterwards than simply try to preserve everything as it is.
The band’s songs combine the influences of all three members. At first they struggled to define their style, until a promoter described it as punchy pop rock. The phrase stuck, and it is now how the band describes its music.
Live is where Last Rainbow makes the most sense. The idea of celebrating together becomes physical: the shows are energetic, loud and driven by a powerful, carefully crafted sound.
ALEX
Guitar and vocals
Alex is a true master of the guitar. Born with a pick in his mouth, he spent his childhood searching for the perfect riff in the depths of a suspiciously damp cave. His voice, allegedly capable of melting a glacier in the middle of a heatwave, and his hypnotic solos quickly won over crowds. He moves between theory and practice with alarming ease, juggling musicology studies and live performances like an acrobat. Some people claim he can communicate with amplifiers telepathically, although he has always refused to confirm the rumour. His secret dream is to form a duo with a guitar-playing unicorn. Until that creature finally appears, he trains day and night with absolutely no mercy for his neighbours. He has never lost an arm-wrestling match and once claims to have beaten a metronome in a speed duel, although the details remain unclear…
RAPHAEL
Drums and backing vocals
Born on 21 September in a non-leap year, Raphaël knew from an early age that an ordinary life was not for him. Raised in a travelling hot-air-balloon circus, he learned violin and piano while riding a unicycle before discovering drums by juggling percussion instruments. Years of alleged training with the world’s greatest conductors turned him into the bewildering creature now able to switch from flute to guitar with the grace of a one-armed dolphin playing volleyball. Raphaël also solved the mystery of disappearing socks in washing machines, although he would rather not discuss it. His zodiac sign is ferret, and his favourite food is anything that does not require a fork.
KENAN
Bass and backing vocals
Kénan is not merely a bass player: he is an architect of vibrations, a sculptor of sound capable of shaking your eyeballs with a single bass string. Born in a graphics-card restaurant, he grew up listening to the gentle hum of processor fans, which may explain his remarkable ability to harmonise binary frequencies with gypsy-jazz chords. A former musicology student and computer enthusiast, he can supposedly repair a computer by serenading it. Whenever he manages to arrive on time, his deep grooves and mysterious harmonies instantly hypnotise the audience. He claims to have written an algorithm capable of composing a hit song, but unfortunately lost it in a hard-drive crash.
